The "BIG 40"

We celebrated Daddy's 40th birthday on Friday Feb.11th.  This was kind of stressful for me as the wife.  I wanted to do something really big and grand for my Hubby's 40th.  I mean I feel it is a birthday that needs a little extra attention.  So, weeks before the big day I was trying to rack my brain on what exactly to do.  Now, before I go any further let me give you a bit of info. for those of you that may not know my hubby very well.  He is NOT a social person and he does NOT like attention drawn to himself.  Making my planning of this day even harder.  I thought I could rent a small banquet room and invite some friends and family, surprise him with a trip somewhere, or just go away somewhere close for the weekend.

Well, I did reserve a room and invite a few friends only to cancel.  He had told me a week before his birthday he just wanted to spend it with us and a date night with me and that was all.  So, I knew he  probably wouldn't  like the idea of a big surprise party. I tried to book a trip now for later, but this didn't work because he will be traveling for his job and I am not for sure when those dates will be and it's just to hard to plan a trip without his input.  Next, the weekend get a way didn't work because he had to work the entire weekend of his birthday.  So, I guess all and all he got exactly what he wanted and all of my stress over this was for nothing, as it usually is.   Goes to show me it wasn't about me and it wasn't my birthday and that I need to remember God's word in EVERYTHING I do in my life.

"Do not worry about anything but in EVERYTHING, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving let your request be made known to God. And the peace of God which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and you minds in Christ Jesus" Phil 4:6-7.

I sometimes (well most of the time) forget to go to my God with EVERYTHING even though things that seem small to me. I don't know why I do this, but I do know that when I finally stop and pray I do get an overwhelming peace that I know can only come from Him.

Grace being silly.  We bought a few decorations for our party.

Grace giving Daddy his gift she made him.

All the kids made their own gifts for Daddy.

Jonah with his gift.

Caleb with his gift.

We did end up spending the night as a family, watched a movie together and he got his ice cream cake that he ask for.

I ordered the cake over the phone from DQ and told them to do their 40th theme.  This is what we got!

Oh, I did go decorate his office when he wasn't there.  I just couldn't help myself of not doing a little bit of a surprise.  I know once again me!!

Some of the Guys he works with signed this and gave him a hard time.
