Poor Little Garden

Our poor little garden is just having a hard time this year. It seems that we have some "wild" life that likes to eat out sweet potato plants and while they are doing that they stomp all over our onions. Any one know how to remedy "Deer"?
Ernie tried to get the boys to release some body fluids around the garden,(I know sounds gross) but Jonah wanted know part in this and Caleb would of but he did not have to release himself yet. We have heard that dog urine keeps Deer away so why not try human urine(sounds logic, right!). We do have an outdoor dog. The problem is that we have an underground fence for our dog and have put the garden on the other side of this to keep the dog out of the garden. Oh what is a person to do?

Our sweet potato plants w/o any leaves

They do let the leaves grow back, just to come back to feast.
Our onions they stomp while having their feast

Now that we have that problem to contend with. Then came the storm!!! I think it hailed at our house for an hour straight. I was just laying in bed and thinking of the "Little House on the Prairie" episode where Charles just had to sit and listen to the hail destroy their crop of wheat. I am just grateful that this is not our only food source or any part of our income as it was for him and still is for so many people. The hail just got to one of our zucchini plants and our watermelon and cantaloupe plants.
Before

After, all of the leaves are riddled. Before you could not see these watermelon. They were hidden in the leaves.
